About Me

Welcome to Sober Paddy!

It has been a few years since I wrote here, and I am not 100% sure if I will start again. But I will be leaving the site up for people to visit whenever they want.

If this is your first time here then I welcome you. I gave up the drink and the drugs in 2009 and here is where I tell my story about my life before and after that.

I published a book called Dub Sub Confidential with Penguin Ireland in 2015. It won the inaugural Setanta Sports Book of The Year Award.

When I first began this site I wrote and made videos solely for the purposes of helping me get through my torment. Then I realised if I could help just one other person I would have made a difference. Since then I have spoken with thousands of people about my journey and theirs: both helping and being helped.

I am a writer. I write and run a boutique Digital Media agency for a living. I am a former footballer and played on the Dubs GAA senior team from 2006-2008.

I am a proud Dad of a 2 year old boy. I have a great wife. For the last 3 years we have been settled in New Zealand.

I studied Philosophy and English in University and as such have a high level of ability to bullshit. I have tried most alcohols and drugs and have lived to tell the tale.

If you want to speak about anything at all, just get in touch. Every great journey begins with an email.

Peace Out.

Sober Paddy.

  1. As an alcoholic and struggling with sobriety, your interviews and musing are a breath of fresh air man. Keep at it and thank you.
