I applaud your journey; your aspirations; your contemplations and your realistic outlook on a problem that assails many in today's world. In a time when many think that: if a little is good, then a lot MUST be better, you are a breath of fresh air. I sometimes despair of the "me" generation and their desire to have it all and to hell with everyone else. As you say, the path you were on held the seeds of your own destruction and the true path to a satisfying life is moderation. Age doesn't have to mean staid and boring - there are many over 50's around leading very fulfilling lives and age can bring perspective that youth lacks. Keep up the good work - I, for one, am thankful you are where you are and telling others that there IS another way. You are getting to be quite the philosopher!
