I know them. The Irish Down Under. They work hard and they drink hard too. More often than not there is nothing but fun and merriment. More often than not, nay a drop of harm comes by anyone. The long weeks deserve a long session to unwind and release. What is the point in all work and no play?

I served time in many pubs in Australia…Serving beers, drinking beers and managing the busiest one of them all in Bondi Junction. I saw many of the lads and lassies on the rip from Friday through Sunday. I saw the best and the worst of them. I encouraged responsible drinking and I turfed out many’s the boy and girl who was schuttered, aggressive or had their fill.

Do you believe in miracles?

Dry your eyes Luis. Not much has changed. All that is different is the degree of the miracle which is needed. It has gone from unlikely to highly improbable. No betting man would have given you odds before blowing that 3-0 lead and nothing much has changed.

Take the slapstick defending out of the equation. Remove the inability of Brendan Rogers to see beyond his single minded philosophy of winning with style and verve. Take the rigid inflexibility of this incredibly fluid attacking monster that is Liverpool and know that there are better times ahead.

An Indian Corporation can destroy the Great Barrier Reef

Did you know that the company which owns the lease for Abbot Point Port in Queensland is an Indian Multi National Corporation? The man at the helm, Guatam Adani, is the 6th richest man in India. They have recently been granted permission by the Queensland Government to expand the Port.

This may not seem too disturbing, but the issue is that this company want to dump up to 5 million tonnes of dredge waste from this upgrade into the National Park which surrounds the Great Barrier Reef. Of course the company have produced “peer reviewed scientific studies” which show that no harm will come of this.
