It’s a wet week after the finals of the GAA championships on the Island of Ireland. Glorious victories for Dublin and Clare played out in perfect autumnal weather. Soft sun, still air and a gentle give in the turf led to some ferocious battles of true modern day warriors.
Watching the games from Hotel lobbies in Peru and Bolivia, one could imagine Ireland as some kind of warm European country. The blue skies and short shorts make for tantalising viewing.
I am cutting corners today. I am simply going to post an email I receive from a guy called Jon Rappoport. Anyone who has an interest in the future of our food should be aware that the president of the USA is guiding us to global GMO food sources. This is a massive worry. People need to wake up to what is going on. We are so easily distracted while they create a weird, convoluted future for us.
It might seem like I get side tracked all the time here. I get to write about various things which may or may not appear to be drink or sobriety related. I waffle on about my opinions on life and liberty. I try to get to the root of what drives us Irish, us people and indeed what causes us to remain so still, as is often the case.
Was walking to catch a local train here in San Fran and bumped into this guy. He was holding a placard up over a footbridge on a highway during evening rush hour traffic. He wanted to draw attention to the case of a native American who was charged with murdering 2 FBI agents in the 70’s.
I believe in knowing the truth about 9/11. It is something which rankles with me deeply. Many people I speak to still believe that the Muslim world attacked free America 11 years ago. While there is some evidence of planes being hijacked and flown into the World Trade Centres, there is also evidence of controlled demolition of the three skyscrapers which fell that day in New York.
This is evidence which had been ignored by the official investigation. I think the world is owed the truth about this day. I think the world needs to understand that there is more to it than meets the eye.
What does it mean to be Irish these days?
I was talking with my wife about the response to my letter to Roy Keane. She was overcome with the passion which people show about the subject of Irish support. I have to admit I knew how we feel about our green culture – we are very proud and very staunch about who and what we are.
She asked me why was it then, that there was not more outcry from such passionate people against the government and the banks?
