From GAA to Global Warming

It’s a wet week after the finals of the GAA championships on the Island of Ireland. Glorious victories for Dublin and Clare played out in perfect autumnal weather. Soft sun, still air and a gentle give in the turf led to some ferocious battles of true modern day warriors.

Watching the games from Hotel lobbies in Peru and Bolivia, one could imagine Ireland as some kind of warm European country. The blue skies and short shorts make for tantalising viewing.

The truth about 9/11

I believe in knowing the truth about 9/11. It is something which rankles with me deeply. Many people I speak to still believe that the Muslim world attacked free America 11 years ago. While there is some evidence of planes being hijacked and flown into the World Trade Centres, there is also evidence of controlled demolition of the three skyscrapers which fell that day in New York.

This is evidence which had been ignored by the official investigation. I think the world is owed the truth about this day. I think the world needs to understand that there is more to it than meets the eye.

What does it mean to be Irish these days?

I was talking with my wife about the response to my letter to Roy Keane. She was overcome with the passion which people show about the subject of Irish support. I have to admit I knew how we feel about our green culture – we are very proud and very staunch about who and what we are.

She asked me why was it then, that there was not more outcry from such passionate people against the government and the banks?
